After a three year hiatus, Penang’s first 1Malaysia Peoples’ Home (PR1MA) project will begin construction by the end of this year.
Kampung Kastam, the 1st phase of the proposed project located at Bukit Gelugor comes with 905 units of affordable housing and 257 low medium-cost units would initially be built. There will also be a common hall, prayer hall for Muslims and a gymnasium.
State Local Government, Housing and Urban and Rural Planning Committee Chairman YB Tuan Jagdeep Singh Deo said the project had been given the green light by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) prior to the 14th General Election.
“Approximately three years later after works began, over 1,000 families will finally own a house, a roof above their heads,” Jagdeep said.
The project will be implemented by Ideal Property Development Sdn Bhd, is set to commence by 2018 year-end, targeting for completion in 2021.
Also present at the site visit at Kampung Kastam, Jalan Bukit Gambir were MBPP Planning Development acting director Puan Zuraini Mat Rasit, Ideal Property Group Executive Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Alex Ooi and Chief Operating Officer Dato’ Goh Teng Whoo.
