Tan Sri Alex Ooi and Ideal Property Group Supporting the Future of SJKC Heng Ee
Ideal Property Group is honoured to contribute approximately RM18 million towards the construction of the new SJKC Heng Ee campus in Sungai Tiram, Penang — a project led by our Chairman, Tan Sri Alex Ooi, in his capacity as Chairman of the Heng Ee Board of Directors.
The project’s approval letter was officially handed over by YB Fadhlina Sidek, Minister of Education, at a ceremony held at the existing SJKC Heng Ee at Macalister Road, Penang.
To be built on a 1.43-hectare site in the southwest district, adjacent to SMJK Heng Ee Cawangan Bayan Baru, the new campus will comprise three buildings in total. The first phase involves the construction of two blocks at an estimated cost of RM30 million.
Once complete, the new primary school will sit alongside SMJK Heng Ee Cawangan Bayan Baru to form a full education pathway — from primary to secondary — within a single neighbourhood. For families in the area, it means children can progress through their school years on familiar ground, supported by a community they already know.
At the ceremony, Tan Sri Alex Ooi described the day as “a historic moment for the Heng Ee community, as the vision of building a new campus has finally become a reality.”
For Tan Sri Alex Ooi and Ideal Property Group, the contribution sits within a much broader effort led by the school’s board, its alumni, teachers, parents and well-wishers, who have carried the vision for the new campus over many years. We are grateful for the trust placed in us, and look forward to seeing the new buildings take shape and serve generations of students to come.
Also present at the ceremony were Tanjong Member of Parliament YB Lim Hui Ying; Penang State Trade and National Unity Committee Chairman YB Goh Choon Aik; Komtar Assemblyman YB Teh Lai Heng; Penang Education Department Deputy Director (Planning and Management Sector) Encik Mohamad Zawawi Ahmad; Northeast District Education Officer Encik Baharuddin Hashim; Ideal Property Group Executive Director Puan Sri Datuk Joanne Phor; and SJKC Heng Ee Headmaster Mr Lee Chian Jau.
